Smoothies! What’s not to like? You can make such a wide variety of healthy vegan smoothies with just about every imaginable taste. There has to be one perfect smoothie for everyone out there.

That is at least how we feel about smoothies. We absolutely love them! One kitchen tool we will still own when we start our van life journey is a blender just to create some delicious smoothies!

You can drink smoothies just as a treat for your sugar cravings. Or you can choose to make a smoothie as healthy as possible by adding vegetables such a carrots, spinach and beetroot.

We even like smoothies as breakfast. They do not fill you up as long as other brekkies do, but they’re a great way to start the day!

We’d like to share three of our favorite smoothies; one from each of the types we mentioned. A super sweet smoothie to enjoy in the sun. A healthy green smoothie to give you all the nutrients you need. And last but not least, our favorite breakfast smoothie!

The ingredients for each of the recipes are for two people, as that is how we are used to making them. These recipes make for two full 450ml glasses.

Apple pie breakfast smoothie

400 ml glasses
Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup flax
  • 1/4 cup oats
  • 2-3 tbs of your favorite nut butter we like peanut butter for this one
  • 1 tsp cinnamon or more, we tend to go overboard on the cinnamon
  • 2 diced frozen bananas
  • 2 apples
  • 1 cup unsweetened non-dairy milk add more or less as needed

Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup flax
  • 1/4 cup oats

  • 2 apples
  • 1 cup unsweetened non-dairy milk add more or less as needed

Instructions
  1. Add the flax and oats to a blender and mix to a fine powder
  2. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix until you have a smooth texture

Ingredients
  • 150 grams of spinach
  • 2 bananas diced frozen
  • 2 kiwis diced frozen
  • 1/3 cucumber
  • 1 thumb size piece of fresh ginger diced
  • 1 tsp spirulina
  • 1 cup unsweetened non-dairy milk add more or less as needed

  • 150 grams of spinach
  • 2 bananas diced frozen
  • 2 kiwis diced frozen
  • 1/3 cucumber
  • 1 thumb size piece of fresh ginger diced
  • 1 tsp spirulina
  • 1 cup unsweetened non-dairy milk add more or less as needed

Instructions
  1. Starting with the non-dairy milk, add all ingredients to a blender and mix until smooth
  2. Tip: Add the juice of one lime for a zingy taste!

Red strawberry summer smoothie
Instructions
  1. Add the pieces of frozen banana to a food processor and blend until an ice cream-like substance forms
  2. Add the other ingredients and mix until smooth
  3. Tip: Try the banana ice-cream for dessert, it’s delicious!
